THE MATERIAL

Epoxy is a polymer that has unique resistance and mechanical properties, made by mixing a hardener and resin, a process that cures the mixture and forms a strong bond. Epoxies have a variety of uses especially and are the strongest adhesives available and have even found use in aerospace and automotive industries. Epoxy coatings provide a protective and tough coating, ideal for various home applications such as coating for kitchen, bathroom and restaurant surfaces.

ADVANTAGES

  • When hardened epoxy creates a solid surface that lasts for years with enhanced scratch, UV resistance and no yellowing. The durable finish holds up well in comparison to other types of countertop materials and coatings. Cracking or damage of epoxy surface is rare, and any scratches or bumps may be re-polished and re-coated.

  • High-gloss to matte finish. Offers a wide array of finish from ultra-high gloss to satin and matte to replicate all styles of natural stone.

  • Unlimited design potential. Epoxy may be the most versatile countertop material with regards to design possibilities, with the capability to incorporate any pattern and even 3D accents.

  • Epoxy is the only type of countertop that can offer a genuinely seamless surface for continuous colour and pattern.

  • Heat resistance. Epoxy with a topcoat can have a heat resistance of up to 475F. Keep in mind this makes epoxy heat resistant but not heat proof. It is always recommended to use trivets for hot pots for any type of countertop including epoxy.

  • Nontoxic and food safe. Once cured the epoxy and topcoat we use is considered food-safe and VOC free. The nonporous surface is also resistant to mold and bacteria growth. In addition to its durability, what makes epoxy so easy to work with is how sanitary it can be which is ideal for businesses and kitchens.

Things to keep in mind. It is recommended food and drink spills are cleaned up quickly to avoid any staining, however applying a topcoat we offer can solve this issue. Avoid using any abrasives (i.e. scouring pads, all-purpose cleaners) and alcohol to clean your epoxy surface.
